Considering last year’s bombshell announcement of AT&T making a bid to buy T-Mobile, this year marked a return to “normal,” if not a somewhat staid event. There were no clear overriding themes and the question has to be asked: Even if CTIA 2103 is held, who will come?
CTIA 2012 did not have a consistent theme as did MWC, which seemed heavily focused on Small Cells/SP Wi-Fi. However, CTIA covers a huge swatch of the industry with vendors hawking everything from architectural grade cell antenna covers, cell tower camouflage, utility rooms, device accessories and the usual telecom infrastructure and devices, making it perhaps a broad-interest show.
