The premotor cortex takes this in. (Positional input plays a role here, too, which is why the hand needs to be placed in a realistic location; the subject needs to perceive it as a viable stand-in for her own hand.) It integrates the visual data and the tactile data, which don't quite match up, and attempts to make sense of it all.

The astonishing Fireworks of Glass, a blown-glass exhibit in the five-story atrium is the largest permanent sculpture that artist Dale Chihuly has ever created. The 43-foot-tall glass tower rises above what appears to be a floating glass ceiling. A number of innovative hands-on activities are offered to promote an appreciation of the work that went into the sculpture. Children can create their own sculptures using colorful plastic shapes or view a film that demonstrates the sights and sounds of glassblowing at the museum's planetarium.
