With 30+ years of experience in the telecom industry Dr. Michael Kennedy develops TCO analyses that support product launches, TCO tools used in one-on-one sales consultation, ROI analysis of turnkey solutions and use cases, ROI analysis of incremental revenue opportunities and economic evaluations of service pricing policies.
Michael has developed business case analyses for all of the world's leading telecom systems vendors. His recent work has included business cases on core routing, policy-based routing for OTT video, cloud centric networking, Connected Ethernet, multimedia mobile core, OTN core network offloading, and FTTH. As a management consultant Michael was the leader of Arthur D. Little's enterprise network consulting practice, Director of Consulting Services for Strategic Networks, and Managing Partner of Network Strategy Partners. Notable engagements include helping service providers develop the concept of IP VPN, creation of the first business cases for the Metro Ethernet Forum, development of the most in-depth OpEx model for network operations, and planning and overseeing construction of the first fiber-optic networks for three of the largest U.S. electric utilities. As an industry analyst Dr. Kennedy lead Gartner's telecommunications strategy advisory service whose more than 300 subscribers included all of the world's major telecommunications service and equipment vendors. His several Strategic Analysis Reports on AT&T were regarded as the definitive analyses of the company. As a financial analyst Michael provided equity research on the "sell-side" at Soundview Financial Corporation, and at AT&T and Bell Labs where he developed financial analyses of the strategic plan, econometric analysis for the defense of U.S. vs. AT&T, forecast telecommunications demand, and performed engineering cost studies of transmission and outside plant projects.
